Welcome to a brand new FileUniverse, ready to satisfy your insatiable and disgusting appetite for thousands of the most useless files ever assembled on the Internet.
The FileUniverse database is now bigger than ever and the largest Total Annihilation database in history. The current database weighs in at 27.9 GB of files and I still haven't even gotten around to uploading about 400 unsorted maps from the old FileUniverse or any TA: Kingdoms files. The database is very up-to-date - you'll find all the latest releases including some missions that were just released a few days ago. Numerous other fixes and additions have been made... you'll just have to browse the site and see what you find. You could start in the Official Content section, where the TA soundtrack is available in lossless FLAC audio format for the first time, as well as 320kbps MP3.
In addition to the countless mods, utilities, patches, and other files, the database also includes thousands of maps - the largest collection of maps ever, in fact, containing everything from the old FileUniverse (except those 400 unsorted maps, which will be uploaded soon), TAMEC, and numerous other web sites from all over the internet. The TAMEC database has not yet been properly sorted and assimilated into the main library (that's going to take a while), but the entire TAMEC DVDs are available for download. Visit the TAMEC DVDs page in the Maps section for more information.
Of course, we still don't have everything, and that's where you come in. FileUniverse now supports user uploading of files up to 100 MB. If for some reason you need to upload an even larger file, don't worry, just ask on the forum and we'll make it happen.
You'll notice little mail icons next to files. Registered users can track files or folders... that way you can get email updates whenever the latest version of your favorite mod is released or your favorite mapmaker has created something new. In addition to notifiying you of new files (if you are tracking an entire folder), you'll also be notified of changes to existing files.
There is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the site, if we can be bothered to do it that is. Mod pages need to be updated with actual information about the mods. The vast majority of files still need to be tagged with descriptions. In addition to descriptions, the maps need minimap previews. More information about all this will come later, for now we can just be happy with the fact that it's all there for download.
That's pretty much it for now. Hopefully most were able to survive the one-month downtime... Well, enjoy the new FileUniverse!
